Immunizations prompt your child’s immune system to create antibodies, training it to recognize and respond to viruses and bacteria. When exposed to these germs later, their body is prepared to defend itself, lowering the chance of infection and serious illness.
At Sammy Kim, MD, we understand vaccines do more than protect individuals—they strengthen the health of our whole community and future generations.
From infancy through adolescence, our immunization program is designed to protect your child at every phase. If you have questions or concerns about vaccines, we’re here to talk during your child’s visit.

Vaccines undergo thorough testing and continuous monitoring by healthcare professionals. This oversight starts during development and continues long after approval. At Sammy Kim, MD, we trust that pediatric vaccines are safe, effective, and essential for your child’s health.
Benefits of Immunizations
Every child deserves to live a healthy, full life. We’re committed to using every available tool to support their physical and mental well-being.
Here’s how vaccines help make that possible:
Preventing Serious Illness
Vaccines expose your child’s body to safe forms of germs, enabling their immune system to build defenses. This preparation helps prevent severe disease if they encounter the real infection later.
Collective Immunity
Some children can’t receive vaccines due to health reasons. When most people are vaccinated, it reduces disease spread and protects those who are vulnerable. This community protection is vital.
Eradication of Diseases
Vaccinations have historically helped eliminate dangerous illnesses. By promoting vaccines, we all contribute to a healthier world.
What to Expect During Your Immunization Appointment
Here’s what happens when you visit us for your child’s vaccines:
1. Medical History Review
Dr. Sammy and our team assess your child’s health, lifestyle, and vaccination records. Sometimes, a physical exam or tests help tailor the vaccine schedule just right.
2. Immunization Administration
Your child will relax on the exam table while we clean the injection spot. Then, a tiny needle delivers the vaccine to stimulate their immune system.
3. Overcoming Your Child’s Fear of Needles
We know needles can be scary. Our caring staff helps children feel calm with distraction and relaxation techniques. If needed, topical numbing creams are available to ease discomfort.
4. After Immunization
Most kids bounce back quickly, resuming daily activities. Mild side effects like low fever or fatigue can occur but usually fade within a day. If severe symptoms or allergic reactions occur, please call us immediately.
If multiple doses are needed, we’ll schedule your next visit.
